Space Shuttle Repair?

It's unknown wether the shuttle needs a repair to remove/replace some filler material between the ceramic heat tiles. NASA has yet to determine if the material would pose a problem. Here is a high-resolution photo showing the filler material protruding right behind the landing gear door.
