The Miracle of the Cell

Wow. This is an animation showing the miracle of everyday life of some of your cells. This is only a small snapshot of the amazing sub-cellular world. There is narration, but I understood less than 1% of what was said. The wow-factor is in what the proteins and other stuff actually does. It is like pure science-fiction, yet it is constantly occurring... within you. Don't be fooled by the scientific talk. Watching those proteins walk, proteins replicate, things make their own rafts to float on, and watching cells create and destroy its own rail transport system, you get a feeling there's a Big Guy up above happy that these Harvard geniuses made this animation. The latest Zionist weapon

Israellycool has aptly named our latest weapon the Zionist Death BootyTM. I will give you a buck if you don't laugh out loud:
According to an [official Palestinian Authority newspaper] Al-Hayat Al-Jadida front page report, the IDF has turned to using armed, female strippers in its war on upstanding Palestinian boys. The newspaper reports that when the Arab rock-throwing begins, IDF soldiers run for cover. Then, the story continues, after some time of hiding, an Israeli woman stands up on top of a barricade and begins to perform an alluring strip tease. Innocent Arab teenage boys, distracted from the business of rioting, are enticed to approach, when, according to the newspaper, the woman - an IDF soldier - shoots them with a pistol she had hidden in her underwear.
Ha! Someone's been watching too much late-night Cinemax in Paleo-land.

And now for something totally different

But if I keep this up, it won't be that "different" anymore. Enjoy.

Islam is Peace?

Is Islam Peaceful? Robert Spencer weighs in on the recent British ad campaign promoting Islam as a peaceful religion. Spencer notes that their 5-step plan does nothing about addressing Islam as a peaceful religion, and instead whines about misconceptions and Islamophobia. Spencer offers a new 5-step program which will substantiatively address the world's apprehensions about Islam.

Waaaa!!

As if you were gonna win anyways. And the last time I checked, Egypt had an airport. A few of them, in fact.
Palestinian soccer team misses World Cup qualifier, blames Israel
By The Associated Press

The Palestinian soccer team said it missed its World Cup qualifying match at Singapore because of Israeli travel restrictions.

The team didn't show for Sunday's game because 18 of its players and officials live in the Gaza Strip, according to Jamal Abu Hasheesh, spokesman for the Palestinian soccer federation.

The Gaza Strip has been under tight control since the Islamic militant Hamas took power by force in June. Last month, Israel declared Gaza hostile territory and said it would only permit humanitarian hardship cases to leave. [ed. - they can leave any time they want. They just have to go into Egypt.]

Abu Hasheesh [what is he smoking?] said the 18 team members didn't receive Israeli permits to leave Gaza for the game. [Hamas and Egypt controls the border crossing into Egypt. Cry to them.]

The federation has asked FIFA to reschedule the match. FIFA officials were not immediately available for comment. [They were too busy having a life.]

Shadi Yassin, a spokesman for the Israeli military's office in charge of coordination with Gaza, said he was looking into the matter [of crybabyism].

And now for something totally different

From the hilarious and oh so insightful Flight of the Conchords: It's Business Time. It's not quite safe for the whole family (sorry all you home viewers of DI) yet is technically okay for work, but only if your boss doesn't mind YouTube videos being viewed during business hours :) Enjoy.

Time lapse video of a San Diego Fire

Via And Still I Persist, whose liveblogging efforts and up-to-the-minute fire maps have been quite a service to the San Diegans, and to the news junkies everywhere else:
Amazing chunk of video shot via time lapse of the Harris Fire as it burns towards Lyon’s Peak in eastern San Diego County. The video features time lapse composite shots from several of the cameras, each starting during a night time shot. For current view of the High Performance Wireless Research and Education Network (HPWREN) camera, click here.

America's "War on Fire"

Pure genius by Harvey at IMAO:
In the 12th century, when Europe was suffering through it's Dark Ages, fire was the most enlightened thing on the planet. It provided warmth and illumination to those who were wise in its ways. Truly it was the engine of civilization.

Fire has never forgotten this, though apparently WE have, and our ingratitude to our betters galls them.

We think ourselves so sophisticated with our electricity and our central heating, but if fire hadn't paved the way for us, we'd be lost.

We offend fire by occupying the holy lands of burnable, burnable forests with our "fireless" nuclear power plants, claiming that we are "better than mere flames". We laugh at fire's "primitiveness" and "simplicity".

Well, apparently fire is stronger than we think, as it continues to prove itself unstoppable despite our recent surge of extinguishing agents. Water, and by extension America, is no match for such a primal force.

How foolish fighting fire is. And what a waste of resources in a country where there are children without health insurance.

It goes on :)

Great headline.

Great headline by Soccer Dad:

Battered wife to delay making supper for two hours following any future beating

From Jpost.com:

Defense Minister Ehud Barak approved on Thursday a list of civilian sanctions against the Gaza Strip as a means to combat the ongoing Kassam rocket barrages that have been fired at southern Israel since the disengagement from Gaza in August 2005.

The decision was made during a special meeting of security officials in which he discussed the matter with senior military personnel, and it marks the first time Israel has scaled back vital supplies to Gaza since the cabinet defined Gaza as a "hostile entity" last month.

Under the plan, Israel will cut electricity for increasing lengths of time each time a Palestinian rocket is fired into Israel. Officials would not say when Israel plans to begin the cutoffs . . .

Defense officials said the cuts in gasoline supply would be enough to "slightly disrupt" Palestinians' daily lives and cause them to think twice before driving their car.

During Tuesday's meeting, Vilna'i decided to allow the continued supply of diesel fuel, which is used by ambulances and sanitation vehicles.

"We do not want to cause a humanitarian crisis," a defense official said. "But we do want to send a clear message to the Palestinians that the rocket fire will not be tolerated."

Kassams kill people. The proper response to deadly force is not to "slightly disrupt" "daily lives."

I [DI] am unclear why we are concerned about creating a humanitarian crisis. We have a humanitarian crisis in Israel right now! See some posts below in which school children are running for their lives from raining explosives in their own freakin' schoolyards! F%@$ those Gazans and their F%#$ing crises! How about we just stop providing water, electricity, and gas to the very people who are trying to kill us and our children?! The crisis will be Hamas' fault for buying weapons and explosives instead of food and water! How about Egypt provide them with the same to avoid a crises? Why not blame Egypt for not providing those pussies their welfare checks?

Achh. Don't get me started.

DI - out.

My favorite computer program used for terror.

achh. I love this program. Just last night I was tracking the San Diego fires with live data (not live images, just fire markers) in 3D. I knew the bad guys could use Google Earth just as well as I could, and here's the official story:

Using Google Earth to target for terror

Al-Guardian reports today that 'moderate' 'Palestinian' President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen's Fatah's 'al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade' terror group is using Google Earth to flesh out targets in Israel for terror attacks.

Hat Tip: NY Nana
Members of the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, a group aligned with the Fatah political party, say they use the popular internet mapping tool to help determine their targets for rocket strikes.

"We obtain the details from Google Earth and check them against our maps of the city centre and sensitive areas," Khaled Jaabari, the group's commander in Gaza who is known as Abu Walid, told the Guardian.

Abu Walid showed the Guardian an aerial image of the Israeli town of Sderot on his computer to demonstrate how his group searches for targets. [And you all thought Hamas controlled the Gaza Strip. CiJ]

Live-blogging the San Diego Fires

Live-blogging here. CNN video is a good place for updates. Live, local radio here.

Stay out of the stadium!!

Really, never go to the evacuation centers... Ever. It's better to sleep on the beach, or just keep walking. Evacuation centers are a disaster waiting to happen.

Qualcomm refugees swell to 10,000

12:08 p.m. [Mon., 10/22]

Fire evacuees continue to take refuge at Qualcomm Stadium and by 12 noon, the number of people taking at the Mission Valley site had swelled to an estimated 10,000.

Just an hour earlier there the number had been in the hundreds. Some people were double evacuees; having fled Ramona last night for Rancho Bernardo, they then found themselves having to flee again. More than 300 volunteers were assisting people and there was a call for cots, blankets, and food to be dropped off at the stadium.
From September, 2005 (remember?):

Update: Qualcomm was exceptional. No major incidents and everyone was safe.

Dear Lord!

If El-Baradei says 3 to 8 years, it must be imminent!

ElBaradei: Iran will have nuclear weapons in three to eight years

The timeline for an Iranian nuclear weapon was three to eight years, Army Radio quoted IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei as saying in an interview with the French Le Monde Monday.

"I cannot judge their intentions, but I can assume that Iran is indeed interested in obtaining a nuclear bomb," ElBaradei said.

Okay, fine, don't judge their intentions, how about you just listen to them themselves say what their intentions are? (Hint: Wipe the Zionist Entity from the face of the earth then destroy the great Satan) Sheesh. No patience for those diplo-weenies.

I've got a lot of patience for the awesome Israeli commandos and IAF who kicked some serious Syrian nuclear butt.
